The instrument mode button selection group consists of the Transmission/Reflection and Noise Figure modes and their respective buttons.
• Transmission/Reflection mode is available for all instruments with any combination of options.
• Noise Figure mode requires Option 041 – Noise Figure to be equipped on the VNA. Option 041 requires front and rear panel access loops provided by Option 051, 061, or 062.
Transmission/Reflection
All instrument models. Read-only display if Option 041 is not equipped. This shows the instrument mode set to Transmission/Reflection measurement. This setting changes the CALIBRATION menu name to CALIBRATION [TR].
If Option 041 is equipped, selection of the Noise Figure mode de-selects the Transmission/Reflection button, and enables the Noise Figure Setup button lower on the menu. Also, when Noise Figure mode is selected, the normal calibration menus are not available.
Available on all VNA instruments equipped with Option 041 – Noise Figure Measurement. If the instrument is in Transmission/Reflection mode and the Noise Figure button is selected, an entry dialog provides the opportunity to save the current Transmission/Reflection configuration before proceeding. Similarly, if the VNA is in Noise Figure mode, and the Transmission/Reflection mode is selected, an exit dialog provides the opportunity to save the current Noise Figure configuration before exiting.
