Frequency Response Test
In this test the frequency response of the sensor is tested at one low power level against a reference sensor of known measurement uncertainty. The reference sensor should be calibrated by a reputable standards laboratory using instruments with low published measurement uncertainty values. To perform the comparison, both sensors are used to measure the output power of a synthesizer with a high quality attenuator at the output. The attenuator improves the source match of the synthesizer by lowering the mismatch ripples, thereby lowering the uncertainty in the comparison.
Test Procedure for MA243x0A
1. Set up the equipment as follows (refer to Figure: MA243x0A Frequency Response Setup for an illustration and Table: Required Equipment for MA243x0A for the required equipment):
a. Preset all test equipment.
b. Connect the sensor cable between the reference power sensor and power meter.
c. Connect the USB cable between the computer and MA243x0A.
d. Launch the PowerXpert application.
e. Power up all test equipment for the amount of time specified in their manuals.
f. Connect the attenuator to the synthesizer with appropriate adapter (if required)
g. Connect the reference sensor to the attenuator. Turn Off synthesizer RF output.

2. Perform a power sensor Zero and a 1mW reference calibration on the reference sensor and meter.
3. Set synthesizer power to 5dBm and frequency to 50MHz CW. Turn On RF output.
4. Apply the Cal Factor to the reference sensor.
5. Record the power indicated by the reference meter in Table: MA243x0A Test Measurement Results.
6. Set synthesizer frequency to the next frequency in Table: MA243x0A Test Measurement Results.
7. Repeat Steps 4 through 6 until all frequencies are measured.
8. Turn Off RF output. Disconnect the reference sensor and connect MA243x0A to the attenuator.
9. Perform a low-level Zero of MA243x0A by clicking the Zero button on PowerXpert.
10. Set synthesizer frequency to 50MHz CW. Turn On RF output.
11. Set Averages to 64 on PowerXpert.
12. Enter test frequency in GHz on PowerXpert.
13. Record the power indicated by the MA243x0A.
14. Set synthesizer frequency to the next frequency.
15. Repeat Steps 12 through 14 until all frequencies are measured
16. Calculate the absolute difference between the Reference power and MA243x0A measurement.
17. Compare the power difference to the maximum allowed difference specified. If the difference exceeds the maximum allowed difference, contact Anritsu Customer Service.
