General Information : General Information : WiMAX Signal Analysis

WiMAX Signal Analysis
These instruments offer two Fixed WiMAX options and three Mobile WiMAX options for testing WiMAX BTS transmitter performance.
Instrument Options for Fixed WiMAX:
Fixed WiMAX RF Measurements (Option 46)
Fixed WiMAX Demodulator (Option 47)
Fixed WiMAX signal analysis is described in “Fixed WiMAX Signal Analyzer”.
Fixed WiMAX options
Fixed WiMAX RF Measurements and Fixed WiMAX Demodulator Measurements. These instruments can measure both FDD and TDD networks. They can measure Fixed WiMAX BTS transmitter performance over the air by connecting an antenna or by connecting the BTS equipment directly to the instrument. To connect the BTS equipment directly to the instrument, connect the power amplifier of the BTS equipment to the RF In connector of the instrument by using a coupler or attenuator. To measure a Fixed WiMAX signal over the air, connect the appropriate frequency band antenna to the instrument RF In connector.
Instrument Options for Mobile WiMAX
Mobile WiMAX Over‑the‑Air (OTA) Measurements (Option 37)
Mobile WiMAX RF Measurements (Option 66)
Mobile WiMAX Demodulator (Option 67)
Mobile WiMAX signal analysis is described in “Mobile WiMAX Signal Analyzer”.
Mobile WiMAX options
Over‑the‑Air (OTA), RF, and Demodulator Measurements. OTA Measurements require that an antenna be attached to the Spectrum Analyzer RF In (50 Ohm) connector on the instrument. Attach a coupler or attenuator to the same connector to make measurements directly from the WiMAX BTS transmitter.
Caution
The maximum (without damage) input level of the RF In port is + 30 dBm. To prevent damage, always use a coupler or a high power attenuator.
Selecting a Measurement Mode
Please refer to your instrument User Guide for specific instructions in selecting the Fixed WiMAX Signal Analyzer or Mobile WiMAX Signal Analyzer mode.
