Using Parameter Setup
Parameter Setup provides the Modulation type settings and related parameters setup. See Figure: Parameter Setup Menus.
Parameter Setup Menus
1. Standard Template: (Optional; loads a set of standards oriented predefined parameter values.) See Standard Setup.
2. Measuring Object: Set as Frame-Formatted or Non-Formatted.
3. File Management: Press to set file actions.
4. Modulation Analysis Parameter Setup Buttons (Frame Formatted)
5. Modulation Analysis Parameter Setup Buttons (Non-Formatted)
Entering Parameter Values
The full parameter set is large and it can be difficult to step through all of the dialogs and set meaningful values. Often the most efficient way to set parameter values is to load a file that closely matches your data set, then make manual changes as necessary.
If starting from scratch, you can often get very close with just two parameters: the modulation scheme
(i.e. 64-QAM or 2-FSK) and the symbol rate. If these two are set correctly, you can often accept default values on all other parameters and get back meaningful results. The other parameter to watch is the Measurement Interval. This is the number of symbols in the file or in a single frame, which ever is smaller. If Measurement Interval is set too large, the results will be inaccurate. (frame-formatted or non-formatted)
The methods of entering parameter values are:
Manual Entry: Step through all of the parameter dialog boxes and enter the desired values.
Load an XML Parameter File: Loading parameter values by loading an XML Parameter file. See Load XML Parameter File.
Load a Configuration File: Loading parameter values by loading a Configuration file. See Load Configuration.
Load a Standards Based Parameter File: These are a set of predefined parameter files that match industry standard definitions for official modulation schemes. See Set Standard Predefined Templates and Standard.
