Modulation Analysis
Open the example files menus from the HELP menu as shown on Figure: Example Files - Modulation Analysis. For this example, download Modulation Analysis.
Example Files - Modulation Analysis
Create a folder to store the Modulation Analysis example file. Click Modulation Analysis opens a Browser dialog. Press OK to download the files into the user created file. Here, the Modulation Analysis example files have been loaded in the folder: Documents >Anritsu > IQ Files as shown in Figure: Download Modulation Analysis. Three file sets are downloaded, the IQ raw data file (.dgz) and metadata file (.dgzm) for each 32APSK, 64QAM, and P14DQPSK file.

Analysis.htm File
Included in the download file is the Analysis.htm file. Open to display the parameters shown for each file as shown in Figure: Analysis.htm Parameters. Use these parameters to perform analysis of the files loaded in Figure: Download Modulation Analysis.

Use the Browse Mode
Use the MX280005A IQ Signal Master Browse mode and open the Example folder for the 32APSK, 64QAM, and P14DQPSK files as shown in Figure: Analysis Files.

Load File
Click the 32APSK file to load it into the analysis program. When loading is complete, the files parameters are shown in the top menu bar as shown in Figure: 32APSK File.

Confirm the loaded file by pressing Playback mode to view the loaded file IQ data as shown in Figure: Playback Mode. This file is short and only takes a few seconds to load and view.

Analyze the Signal
Use the 32APSK parameters listed in Figure: Analysis.htm Parameters to setup the 32APSK modulation parameters shown in Figure: Modulation Parameter Setup Entry's.
Procedure
1. Refer to the Parameter Setup window.
2. Press the Modulation radio button to view the Modulation window.
3. Set the Measuring Object to Non-formatted.
4. Set the Modulation type by pressing the drop-down arrow and selecting 32APSK.
5. Set the Symbol Rate to 500.0 ksps.
6. Press OK.

Set Up the 32APSK Filter Parameters
Set up the 32APSK modulation parameters as shown in Figure: Filter Parameter Setup Entry's.
Procedure
1. Refer to the Parameter Setup window.
2. Press Filter.
3. Set the Measurement Filter to Root Nyquist.
4. Set the Reference Filter to Nyquist.
5. Press OK.

2. Press Data.
3. Set the Measurement Interval to 512 Symbol.
4. Press OK.

Set Up the 32APSK Detail Settings Parameters
Set up the 32APSK modulation parameters as shown in Figure: Data Parameter Setup Entry's.

1. Refer to the Parameter Setup window.
2. Press Detail Settings. For this example, no settings are required as the default settings are correct as is.
3. Press OK.

Set Analysis Types
Set the Analysis types as shown in Figure: View Modes Types.
Procedure
1. Click the View Modes tab.
2. Set analysis types. For this example, click Constellation, EVM vs. Symbol, Eye Diagram, and Numeric.

Analyze the 32APSK Data
1. Click the Modulation Parameters tab.
2. Press the Analyze button.
The Analysis of the set up 32APSK parameters is shown in Figure: Analyze 32APSK.

Added Files
The analysis process has added the 32ASPK.anr and 32APSK.vsa files to the IQ Files Examples folder as shown in Figure: Analysis Files Added. When an IQ file is loaded for the first time, additional processing is required. The '.anr' file stores this information so that subsequent loading is faster. This will be more evident when we work with larger files. The time to process the loading is greatly reduced. The .vsa file is the analysis file that produces the metadata for analysis.

64QAM File Example
Click the 64QAM file to load it into the analysis program. When the program loads, the files parameters are shown in the top menu bar as shown in Figure: 64QAM File. Set the 64QAM parameters in the same way as the 32APSK parameters, using the parameter values in the 64QAM section of the Analysis.htm information file.
