Use frequency blanking when the measured frequency must not appear on the screen display for security or proprietary reasons. Below, Figure: Frequency Blanking OFF shows a normal display with five reference markers and their associated frequencies.

After frequency blanking is implemented, the frequency values and units are replaced with XXXX as shown below in Figure: Frequency Blanking ON.

Frequency Blanking Procedure
1. Setup the number of channels, number of traces, and the trace displays as required.
2. Save the setup as a setup file by opening the SAVE SETUP dialog box.

3. Save the setup with a memorable file name as one of the file types below.
• Active Channel Setup & Cal (.chx)
• Active Channel Setup (.stx)
• All Channel Setup and Cal (.cha)
• Active Channel Setup (.sta)
Blank the Frequency Display
4. On the right side menu, navigate to the Frequency Blanking button:
• MAIN | System | SYSTEM | Utility | UTILITY | Frequency Blanking
• The Frequency Blanking button is a one-way toggle button.
5. Click the Frequency Blanking button.
• All displayed frequency values and units are blanked and replaced with XXXX as shown above in Figure: Frequency Blanking ON above.
Restore the Frequency Display
6. Use the Preset function to return the instrument to its prior setting. Use one of the following methods:
• Preset Key
• ICON TOOLBAR | Preset icon
• MENU BAR | Utilities | Preset
7. The instrument is restored to its prior configuration state and frequency values and units are again displayed as in Figure: Frequency Blanking OFF above.
