This chapter gives a brief overview of the 5GNR analyzer and its measurement capabilities for handheld and benchtop instruments. The purpose of this chapter is to provide a starting point for making 5GNR measurements. This chapter mainly describes measurement setup, including selecting the analyzer and setting up frequency, bandwidth, amplitude, span, and markers. After measurements are taken, refer to Saving and Recalling Measurements for a description of saving, recalling, and managing measurement files.
A basic understanding of the measurement concepts presented in Spectrum Analyzer measurement guide (10580-00447) is recommended before performing the procedures in this chapter. 5GNR measurements include the use of additional functions beyond frequency, span, amplitude, and marker functions. Setting Frequency and Band Parameters through Setting Up Markers explain general setup procedures and settings. 5GNR Measurement Setup through 5GNR Coverage Mapping (Option 431) provide example 5GNR measurements that are available in the 5GNR analyzer.
5GNR measurement setups typically conform to the 3GPP and device manufacturer standards. They can be configured manually or based on the band selection and accompanying ARFCN and GSCN assignments. The instrument is designed to make setting up your measurement as easy as possible. Simply refer to the specification for the measurement and base station settings that you are testing, select the measurement, and enter the base station measurement setup parameters.
The 5GNR signal analyzer offers the following measurement options:
